Welcome Tylor and Connor!

We’re delighted to welcome two undergrads, Tylor Militello from Siena College and Connor Schroyer from Ithaca College, who will be doing summer research in the lab. They’re both here as part of an NSF-funded program to bring in students who attend predominantly undergraduate institutions (PUIs) and have had some C. elegans research experience at their home institutions. At Siena, Tylor has been working on male tail development with Portman Lab alumnus Adam Mason; at Ithaca College, Connor has been working on dosage compensation in the lab of Te-Wen Lo. Because they both already have the basics of worm biology down, we hope that a summer in our lab will give them an opportunity to do some great research, find out more about what grad school is like, and learn some new skills that they’ll be able to bring back with them in the fall. Both Tylor and Connor will be blogging about their summer research, so check back for updates on how their projects are going!

We’re open!

Welcome to portmanlab.org, the website of the Portman Lab at the University of Rochester. Thanks for visiting us! There’s still quite a bit more content that needs to go up, but the lab website is now officially off the ground. Visit us for lab news, blogs from lab members, and info about our research and publications.
